The Storyteller’s Death by Ann Dávila Cardinal is free to read on Libby

A couple of times a year, Overdrive offers its Big Library Read program for the Libby app. This allows public libraries to offer one free audiobook and e-book of a particular title with no waitlists or holds. From July 17–31, library cardholders can borrow “The Storyteller’s Death” by Ann Dávila Cardinal.

Set in Puerto Rico, “The Storyteller’s Death” follows Isla Larsen Sanchez, a young woman who inherits a mysterious family gift: the ability to witness the past through vivid visions. When one of these visions reveals a decades-old murder, Isla must unravel the truth before the stories consume her. This haunting and lyrical novel explores the power of storytelling, the weight of family secrets, and the magic of identity.

The Big Library Read, launched in 2013, connects millions of readers worldwide through public libraries. The program is available in over 22,000 libraries and is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform. The Storyteller’s Death is the 37th selection in the Big Library Read series. The novel was named one of BuzzFeed’s “20 Highly Anticipated Thrillers of 2022,” appeared on best-of lists from BookRiot and Goodreads, and won the International Latino Book Award Gold Medal.

The Storyteller’s Death” was published as an e-book by Sourcebooks and as an audiobook by Recorded Books. The title can be read through Libby or libbyapp.com. Through Libby, readers can also use “Send to Kindle” to deliver it to their e-readers. Kobo e-reader users can also read the e-book exclusively on their device, provided they have a library card and the local branch partners with Overdrive/Libby.
