Flight of the Conchords will reunite for their first gigs in eight years at Netflix Is a Joke Fest

Flight of the Conchords have announced their first performances in eight years at Netflix Is A Joke Fest.
The legendary Kiwi musical comedy duo last performed together in 2018, where they filmed a run of shows at Hammersmith Apollo for HBO live special Flight of the Conchords: Live in London.
Now, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement are set to reunite later this May at Netflix Is A Joke, a biennial comedy festival held in Los Angeles. The Conchords are set to perform “fan favourites” alongside “classic banter”, and will be their only US dates of 2026.
Originally unveiling one concert to take place on May 9 at the Greek Theatre, they added a second show on May 10 following “overwhelming demand”.
Tickets for their second show will go on sale January 23 at 10am – get yours here.
Since the end of their HBO show in 2009, the duo have pursued solo work in acting and music.
Bret McKenzie released his solo debut album ‘Songs Without Jokes‘ in 2022, telling NME that the album would consist of a more serious, sincere set of tracks. “As much as I love comedy music, I don’t really listen to it in everyday life”, he explained.
“I have a fondness for the funny song within an album that might be more serious. Lots of people have them,” McKenzie continued. “Courtney Barnett has some really funny lines and Leonard Cohen has a lot of funny lines. I was interested in something in that zone.”
McKenzie would go on to release his second solo album ‘Freak Out City‘ last year. He has also recently written songs for movies like A Minecraft Movie, Plankton: The Movie and Thelma The Unicorn, having previously worked as music supervisor for The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014).
Meanwhile, Clement has taken on a number of roles in the film industry. He directed, starred in, wrote and co-produced mockumentary comedy horror film What We Do In The Shadows alongside Taika Watiti.
Clement has also recently appeared in movies like Avatar films The Way of Water and Fire and Ash, along with M3GAN 2.0. He has also voice acted in major animation films like Despicable Me, Rio, The BFG and Moana.
